Robert Kubica flat-out on three wheels

More proof, if any were needed, that rally drivers aren’t quite right in the head.

During the final stage of last weekend’s Rally Poland, the seventh round of this year’s World Rally Championship, local hero, ex-Formula One star Robert Kubica, sustained a puncture.

Far from pulling over to change it, he continued on at unabated speed, eventually clocking a time just 21.5 seconds slower than eventual stage (and rally) winner Sebastien Ogier, who had the distinct advantage of four inflated tyres.

Perhaps even more remarkably, the driver one place in front of him on that stage, VW’s Jari-Matti Latvala, crashed into a tree near stage end, yet selected reverse and finished, dropping just 20 seconds in the process.

They’re all nuts, the lot of them.
